Joyce Berner, 80, a lifelong resident of Indianapolis passed away April 18, 2012 after a life well lived. She was the daughter of Walter and Esther Glaser. Joyce was a graduate of Ball State University with a degree in Nursing. She was the Director of the Community Support Center of Mental Health before her retirement.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bill Berner, her son Bruce Berner and his wife Ethel Morgan; Granddoggers Heidi, Champ and Clifford; Grandkitties. Parker, Cooper, Greta and Outback; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Her beloved cats, Mac, Pat, Louie, and Itty also survive her. In addition to her immediate family, she leaves an extended family too numerous to name that loved her dearly and will miss her greatly. Our thanks go to this family for their help and support.
Joyce was a lover of travel, good food and good wine. She taught gourmet-cooking classes and was active in her Cooking Club that met monthly to enjoy great socialization in addition to the great international cuisine.
Memorials in honor of Joyce may be made to the Eagle Creek Park Foundation, Nature Conservancy, the Indianapolis Humane Society, or a charity of your choice.
A celebration of life will be held at The Benton House, 312 South Downey, Indianapolis, Indiana 46219 on May 13, 2012 starting at 3:00.
